  13. ARLX070 ETO agrees to merger

  15. A merger between Ehrhorn Technological Operations (ETO), Inc, and
  16. Applied Science and Technology, Inc, will not affect ETO's position
  17. in the Amateur Radio market, according to ETO Chairman Dick Ehrhorn,
  18. W4ETO.

  20. Applied Science and Technology (ASTeX), of Woburn, Massachusetts,
  21. makes systems for making industrial diamonds and semiconductor
  22. materials.  ETO makes high power RF products, including ALPHA linear
  23. amplifiers for amateurs.

  25. Ehrhorn said ''ETO's people, technologies and products strongly
  26. complement those of ASTeX.  Our combined capabilities extend from dc
  27. to microwave and up to 75 kW.

  29. ''Delivery commitments and warranty service for ETO-ALPHA Amateur
  30. Radio products are not affected,'' Ehrhorn said. ''ETO continues to
  31. operate from its Colorado Springs location with no anticipated
  32. changes in personnel. Ray Heaton remains the primary sales and
  33. service contact for Amateur Radio customers.

  35. ''In fact,'' Ehrhorn said, ''We're looking for ways to serve our
  36. Amateur Radio customers even better.''

  38. In 1995, ASTeX had fiscal sales of about 20 million dollars,
  39. according to an ETO press release.  ETO reported its sales for the
  40. nine months ended September 30, 1995, at more than 10 million
  41. dollars.
